Description

Day 1: Nice
Arrive individually in Nice. Nestled on the Baie des Anges, surrounded by green hills, today's Nice is a real concentrate of Belle Epoque and modernity. The capital of the French Riviera, the heart of a region of timeless beauty, the city offers all its diversity, rich in history, architecture, culture, and art. We recommend strolling in the Old Town to experience the authentic charm of this Mediterranean city that offers an endless variety of activities and visits!

Day 2: Nice – Ventimiglia (42 km)
In the morning, a slightly busy stretch will lead you to La Turbie: located on the promontory overlooking the Principality of Monaco, it offers one of the most beautiful landscapes on the riviera. The town bears the name of the Trofeo di Augusto monument, of which you can visit the ruins, built over 2000 years ago by the Romans to glorify Emperor Augustus and his victories over rebellious tribes. Enjoying unique views on the Riviera and the clear sea of the French Riviera, passing through Menton, you will finally reach Ventimiglia, where history and dream beaches await you.

Day 3: Ventimiglia – Bordighera – San Lorenzo – Imperia (49 km)
Today admire the Ligurian coast in all its splendor. After passing Bordighera, a resort town for the Italian aristocracy at the beginning of the '900s, you will arrive in Sanremo, the famous city of flowers, then follow on to Bussana. If you have time, despite a climb of about 3 km, we recommend visiting Bussana Vecchia, an artistic village born on the ruins of a medieval village abandoned in 1887 when a violent earthquake hit the Sanremo hinterland; the village has been uninhabited ever since, until a community of artists from various parts of the world settled here from the 1960s, bringing it back to life and still performing their activities. In addition to enjoying a magnificent view of the sea, you can visit the Roman stone houses. Continuing along the Ligurian Riviera cycle path, which is located on the coastal route of the old railway, you will reach San Lorenzo al Mare. The route, mostly flat, crosses small villages and runs along the typical Mediterranean coast. Past San Lorenzo, the route leaves the coast and leads into the Ligurian hinterland; a climb will take you to Civezza, enjoy the view from the top of a hill surrounded by olive groves, before tackling a final descent to Imperia, squeezed between the Mediterranean and the Maritime Alps, that will welcome you with its colored buildings, the port and the ruins of the castle on top of the hill.

Day 4: Imperia – Diano – Cervo – Alassio (44 km)
Today, continue pedaling between small coastal towns that in summer become true holiday centers like San Bartolomeo and Diano Marina, the pearl of West Liguria with its 3500 m of beach and wealth of places; one of the most beautiful locations is undoubtedly Cervo, suspended over the sea. Take a pleasant break and a nice dive in Marina di Andora before getting back in the saddle towards today's destination: Alassio. Alassio, once a flourishing fishing village, has become, with the birth of international elite tourism, one of the most elegant centers of the Riviera, surrounded by green, flowers from its gardens, magnificent villas on the first hill and characterized by its almost four kilometers of beach of quartz and fine limestone, which gently descends into the sea, almost without slope.

Day 5: Alassio – Albenga – Finale (44 km)
Today, follow in the footsteps of the ancient Romans along the Via Julia Augusta that crossed the coastal region: just outside Alassio, the ground still bears traces of the ancient Roman pavement. Along the way, do not miss the opportunity of a stop in Albenga to admire the mosaics decorating the baptistery dome or tasting the famous chickpea flour focaccia. Through alternating coastal paths and a couple of inland incursions, you will finally reach Borgio Verezzi, renowned for its colorful caves.

Day 6: Finale – Savona (34 km)
Today, pedal away from traffic on quiet roads leading you up the hill. From Finale, continue along the sea towards Finalpia, and then climb steeply to the sea on the Altopiano delle Manie, a real terrace on the sea. Tackle a spectacular descent towards Noli, another beautiful village with its medieval towers and the Romanesque church of San Paragorio. Continue pedaling along Aurelia or the pedestrian path to reach Spotorno, where you can enjoy a refreshing dip in the sea in front of Bergeggi island, in the clearest waters of all Liguria. Continuing east, you will reach the splendid seafront of Savona.

Day 7: Savona – Arenzano (24 km) | Train to Genoa
The last bike stage, completely flat, is dedicated to the sea and relaxation. Leave Savona towards Albissola, Celle Ligure, and Varazze, famous for its beautiful walk. Then continue through tunnels, stone bridges, and picturesque stretches overlooking the sea to Arenzano, the gateway to the Western Ligurian Riviera developed along the track of the ancient Via Aurelia. Devote some time to a refreshing swim before covering a short distance by train (not included) to reach Genoa, a city rich in history and evocative corners, nestled between the sea and the mountains that surround it. Lose yourself in the maze of "caruggi" sung about by De André, the typical alleys that criss-cross down to the harbor, admire the old city with its noble palaces and ancient churches. Naturally, don't leave the city without indulging in its gastronomic temptations: "trofie al pesto", the fragrant focaccia, and "cima"... it will be the best way to conclude your adventure.

Day 8: Genoa
After breakfast, end of services, and individual departure.
