Description

Day 1: Fontainebleau
Individual arrival in Fontainebleau and hotel accommodation. After settling your luggage, take the opportunity to explore this charming city, south of the capital, overlooking the majestic and royal Parisian countryside. Overnight in hotel or Bed & Breakfast of Charme.

Day 2: Fontainebleau - – Étampes (55 km)
Today you will cycle through the Fontainebleau forest, 25,000 hectares rich in flora and fauna, a real joy for nature lovers. You will also discover Barbizon, an important meeting place for artists in the 19th century and the place of origin of the eponymous school, a landscape current of realism. The itinerary continues to the discovery of other picturesque villages, such as Dannemois, where the singer Claude Franςois lived. A final stretch on a cycle path will take you to Étampes, an ancient royal city now awarded the title of City of Art and History. It boasts at least 26 state-protected monuments, including the church of Notre-Dame-du-Fort with a royal portal from the 12th century. Overnight in a hotel in Étampes.

Day 3: Étampes – Rambouillet (55 km)
Your journey continues in the Paris region through the Rambouillet forest where, for about 40 years, around a hundred wallabies, small marsupials very similar to kangaroos, escaped from a reserve and settled here. After leaving Étampes, follow a quiet cycle path, then you'll pass through the royal city of Dourdan, the entrance to the Regional Natural Park of the Upper Chevreuse Valley. The itinerary ends in the heart of the Rambouillet forest, in front of its suggestive castle: an ancient royal estate that over the centuries has hosted important personalities such as Louis XVI and his wife Marie Antoinette and has become the representative house of the President of the French Republic. The reserve, which represents one of the most important forests of the Parisian region, hosts oaks and conifers and includes landscapes very different from each other, that includes waterfalls, small lakes, sand expanses, and wooded areas. Overnight in a charming hotel in Rambouillet.

Day 4: Rambouillet – Versailles (55 km)
After a few kilometers from the start of the stage, you will enter the heart of the Chevreuse Valley and will cycle to the discovery of its treasures: churches, abbeys, castles, houses, wash houses, there where around small villages still dominate the woods and the green countryside. You will discover picturesque villages and the castle of Dampierre before reaching the surprising Palace of Versailles, only a few kilometers from Paris, included in the World Heritage of Humanity for over 30 years, it is one of the highest artistic expressions of the 17th century. The Palace was the residence of the French royals at the time of Louis XIV, the famous Sun King, Louis XV and Louis XVI. Only after the French revolution, in 1789, did it cease to be the permanent residence of the king. Overnight in a charming hotel.

Day 5: Versailles
