Description

Day 1: Stockholm
Individual arrival in Stockholm and hotel accommodation. Enjoy a walk in the capital of Sweden and explore some of the numerous tourist attractions. In the evening there will be a welcome briefing and the delivery of bicycles (if booked).
Day 2: Stockholm – Södertälje, Södertälje – Mariefred (45 km)
The first stage of the tour will take you cycling along an ancient trading route that has existed since the Viking times along Lake Mälaren, the third largest lake in Sweden. Along this route, you will pass Drottningholm Castle, the residence of the royal family and a UNESCO site. Today you will ride on secondary roads up to Gripsholm Castle, which houses the national portrait collection: over 4000 works that trace the art of portraiture from the 1400s to present day. The history of the castle dates back to 1370, when Bo Jonsson Grip built a castle on a promontory that, after several expansions, became Gripsholm Castle. Towards the end of the day, you will arrive at Södertälje, located south of Stockholm, where Lake Mälaren meets the Baltic Sea through the Södertälje Canal lock. Overnight stay in Mariefred.
Day 3: Excursion to Selaön Island or Rest Day (50 km)
Visit Selaön Island with its runestones and 15th century cemetery or enjoy a rest day in Mariefred. Gripsholm Palace and other places of interest are definitely worth exploring. You could take a trip on the first Swedish museum train to Taxinge and return by boat (departures between July and mid-August, not included).
Day 4: Mariefred– Järna (60 km)
Today's tour will take you into the heart of pristine and remote nature reserves, through the extraordinary scenery of Sörmland. At this point numerous rivers and lakes have formed due to vast tectonic movements, but the altitude never exceeds 100 m. Once you reach the top of the hills, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views and a long descent. Your hotel is located in the small town of Järna, with its famous anthroposophical village with biodynamic gardens and distinctive architecture.
Day 5: Järna – Trosa (35 km)
Today's destination is the idyllic town of Trosa on the Baltic Sea, which is also used as a setting for many “Inga Lindström” films. You will then end the day with a stroll in the picturesque village, admiring the small alleyways, red houses, and wonderful water views. We recommend trying crabs, salmon or smoked fish in one of the delightful restaurants for dinner.
Day 6: Trosa – Stockholm (55 km)
Heading north and after a short ferry ride, you will arrive on one of the many islands of Stockholm. Enjoy the night in the capital with a typical Swedish dinner in one of the numerous restaurants in the city.
Day 7: Stockholm
After breakfast, end of services.
