Description

Day 1: Individual arrival in Basel
Individual arrival in Basel and accommodation in hotel.

Day 2: Basel – Aarau (58 km; +770/-665 m)
After breakfast, you will leave the lively atmosphere of Basel to immerse yourself in the tranquility and picturesque countryside. You will then cross the hills of the Aargau Jura Park, followed by a lively descent along the southern slopes of the Jura to Aarau.

Day 3: Aarau – Lucerne (57 km; +275/-230 m)
From Aarau, the road will lead you to the idyllic valley of the Suhrental river, giving you an incredible view of the Alps to the south and the Jura range to the north. Through rich orchards and fertile fields along Lake Sempach, you will then reach Lucerne, today's destination.

Day 4: Lucerne – Amsteg (42 km; +400/-280 m)
Lake Lucerne is one of the largest and most beautiful lakes in Switzerland. Its many branches connect the Mittelland and the Alps. When the strong föhn wind blows, the lake reveals its wildest side! You will then cross the Urnerland, arriving at Amsteg.

Day 5: Amsteg – Gotthard Pass (35 km; +1575/-5 m)
Your journey will continue through the canton of Uri, where the impetuous Reuss plunges through the Schöllenen Gorge, tempered only by the mountain walls and the Devil's Bridge (Teufels Brücke). Whether on horseback, by train, or by car, many visitors come here to cross the Gotthard heading south.

Day 6: Gotthard Pass – Bellinzona (77 km; +0/-1855 m)
The Leventina Valley has been a transit corridor since ancient times. You will then ride along the waters of the Ticino river, passing through chestnut trees and vineyards until you reach Bellinzona, known as 'La Turrita' (The Towered) for its numerous castles.

Day 7: Bellinzona – Lugano (37 km; +365/-315 m)
After breakfast, you will ride to Cadenazzo and then take the train to Rivera Bironico. From Monte Ceneri, you will enjoy views over the cultivated fields of the Magadino Plain and Lake Maggiore. The postcard beauty of Lake Lugano marks the end of this tour.
