Description

Day 1: Brisighella and the Regional Park of the Gypsum Vein (40 km)
We start cycling along the Lamone Valley, with wide views of the countryside and the badlands of the first hills. A brief stop in Faenza will give us a chance to get to know this beautiful town. We resume cycling up to the Senio Valley, with its vineyards, and the Regional Park of the Gypsum Vein. We then climb along the slopes of Monte Rontana, fully enjoying the spectacular views of the Pliocene badlands of the Gypsum Vein. The route continues at altitude up to the old gypsum quarries of Brisighella, now an equipped park, and the Rocca dei Veneziani, a fortification dating back to 1310 wanted by the Manfredi, lords of Faenza. A short descent brings us back to Brisighella.

Day 2: Brisighella and the hills of the Sangiovese (60 km)
Today's route takes us into the first Faenza and Forli's hills, along one of the most beautiful climbs in the area from whose top, on clear days, the view reaches the sea. We descend towards Castrocaro, famous for its thermal baths, and Terra del Sole, wanted in 1564 by Cosimo de'Medici as a fortified city and a splendid example of Renaissance military engineering and urban planning. We continue along the slopes of the first hills among the Sangiovese vineyards to return to Brisighella.
