Description

Day 1: Geneva/Gaillard
Individual arrival in Geneva and accommodation in a hotel. Take some time to explore this international city and its fascinating lake. In the beautiful old town you can find authentic Swiss restaurants, while for international cuisine, you should go to the Paquis district. Overnight in Geneva or across the border, in a quiet French suburb.

Day 2: Geneva/Gaillard - Seyssel (90 km; +1880/-2020 m or 98 km; +1960/-2100 m)
After breakfast, welcome briefing, delivery of bikes and equipment. Today you will ride through some pretty Swiss villages such as Avully, Cartigny, Russin and Chancy, before entering France through the Vallée des Usses. Then you will cycle towards the Jura through the Col de Richemond and the Col de la Biche (included in the 2012 Tour de France). The stage ends in the captivating city of Seyssel, which is located on the Rhone River.

Day 3: Seyssel – Aix-Les-Bains (95 km; +1880/-1910 m)
From Seyssel, you will first cross the Chautagne wine region and then Culoz, at the foot of the Col du Grand Colombier, one of the most challenging mountain passes in France. The steepest section of the Colombier has a gradient of 10.2%, but every effort will be rewarded with spectacular views of the region. After visiting the lovely village of Chanaz, the route will take you to the banks of Lake Bourget, whose brilliant blue waters host over 30 species of fish and various rare birds. As this is the largest lake in France, it's a top destination for windsurfing, kayaking, water skiing, diving and a wide range of water sports. This stage ends at the foot of the Alps, in Aix-les-Bains, a renowned spa town. Visit the Roman ruins in lush gardens, before heading to the city's historic center, brimming with lively cafes and top-class restaurants that exude Belle Époque charm.

Day 4: Aix-Les-Bains – Sainte-Hélène-sur-Isère (91 km; +2430/-2310 m)
Today's stage will take you to Sainte-Hélène-sur-Isère, through the beautiful Bauges pre-Alps, one of the best preserved natural areas in France. The route will take you on very quiet roads and cycling will be immersed in silence, enjoying the view of the nearby Aravis, Chartreuse and Belledonne mountains. The big climb of the day is Mont Revard, a 21 km climb that has been included in the Tour de France five times. The day will end in one of the picturesque towns of Sainte-Hélène-sur-Isère or Coise-Saint-Jean-Pied-Gauthier, depending on the chosen hotel category.

Day 5: Sainte-Hélène-sur-Isère – Annecy (130 km; +3020/-2930 m)
The final stage of the tour takes you to Annecy via the Olympic city of Albertville, host of the 1992 Winter Games. On the way, you will ride over two famous passes: the first is the challenging Col des Saisies, with a climb of around 15 km and an average gradient of 6.4%; the other is the Col des Aravis, 12 km with an average gradient of 5%. You will then reach Annecy, known as the Venice of the Alps for the numerous canals crossing the city. To end your holiday in a truly relaxing way, take a dip in the turquoise waters of Lake Annecy or just lie down and sunbathe on its shores.

Day 6: Annecy
After breakfast, end of services and individual departure.
