Description

Day 1: Assisi
Arrival at the hotel in Assisi, 900 meters from the historic center or Viole, 3 km from Assisi.

Day 2: Assisi – Spello – Foligno – Casco dell’Acqua (26 km; +166/-329 m)
Today's journey will take you to the towns of Spello and Foligno. Spello is of Roman origin. From this period dates the Venus gate (1st century AD), the remains of an aqueduct (visit the Spello tourist office) and the ruins of the amphitheatre outside the city walls. Of great interest is the church of Santa Maria Maggiore. Here you can admire the impressive frescoes of Pinturicchio. Today's stage is mostly flat, you will ride through the Umbrian Valley among its rivers, canals and fields, passing through quiet country roads to reach your hotel in Casco dell’Acqua.

Day 3: Casco dell’Acqua – Bevagna – Casco dell’Acqua (34 km; +/-140 m)
Through the quiet countryside, your tour will lead you to Bevagna, a medieval city that proudly stands with its Roman roots in the green valley. Cycling, you will find yourself immersed in a landscape that resembles a painting, where nature merges harmoniously with history. Arriving in Bevagna, you will have the opportunity to discover its fascinating medieval square, the real center of city life. In the middle of the square, you will find a historic fountain, surrounded by two Romanesque churches. This lively space is a meeting point for the local inhabitants, a place that reflects the warm welcome and hospitality characteristic of this area. After the visit, you will cycle back to your farmstay in Casco dell’Acqua.

Day 4: Casco dell’Acqua – Spoleto – San Luca (46 km; +262/-247 m)
This morning your itinerary will take you to Spoleto passing through beautiful olive groves. You will see Spoleto from afar, with its fortress dominating the hill on which the medieval city is built. The center is still, for the most part, enclosed by medieval walls. Spoleto is well-known for its "Festival Dei due Mondi" that takes place every year between the end of June and the beginning of July. There is plenty to see in Spoleto, starting with the Cathedral with the famous frescoes of the Florentine painter Filippo Lippi, the Roman house and theater with the archaeological museum. You will then leave Spoleto and cycle along the bike path to San Luca, located at the foot of Montefalco.

Day 5: San Luca – Torgiano (37 km; +339/-344 m or 39 km; +179/-186 m)
Today your journey will take you to Torgiano, a small and charming village. During the journey, you can decide whether to make a detour to Montefalco, known as the 'balcony of Umbria'. If you choose to pass through Montefalco, you will have the opportunity to explore the streets of a hilltop town, from where you can enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the Umbrian valley. The route that descends from Montefalco will take you through picturesque landscapes, with vineyards alternating with nature. Continuing, you will reach Torgiano, located at the confluence of the Chiascio and Tiber rivers, a village known for its excellent wines. In Torgiano, you can visit an interesting museum dedicated to wine and oil, to learn more about the wine and olive oil tradition of the place.

Day 6: Torgiano (24 km; +218/-212 m or 32 km; +400/-442 m or 45 km; +508/-546 m)
Today you will have the opportunity to choose between three different itineraries. The first will take you to discover the beautiful city of Perugia with its Renaissance palaces, countless churches, monasteries, and museums. Take a short and easy route that will take you to the Ponte San Giovanni station, where you will take the local train to reach the center of Perugia. The second will lead you to cycle to the historic center of Perugia, passing through country roads up to the city entrance and climbing to the historic center, with its narrow alleys and characteristic squares. There is lots to see: Renaissance palaces, medieval churches, museums, and galleries. After the visit, a nice descent will take you back to Torgiano. The third will let you discover the nearby town of Deruta, famous since ancient times for its potters. There are still many workshops that produce high-quality ceramics. The Pinacoteca is inside the Town Hall and houses frescoes dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries. You will leave Deruta and then cycle to the Sanctuary of Madonna dei Bagni, built in the 17th century in memory of a miraculous event. The church houses over six hundred votive maiolica. Cycling through a hilly landscape you will then pass typical Umbrian villages like Casalalta. Return to Torgiano through the Tiber Valley.

Day 7: Torgiano – Assisi (25 km; +251/-54 m)
Today you cross the Valley through quiet roads. From afar you will have a beautiful view of Assisi built on the slopes of Monte Subasio. To reach the center you have to make a small effort, but it is certainly worth it. After the visit, you return to your starting hotel.

Day 8: Assisi
After breakfast, end of services and individual departure.
