Description

Day 1: Andermatt – Obergesteln/Oberwald (38 or 40 km; +1000/-1085 m)
Individual arrival and hotel check-in. Today, riding your bike, you will discover The Fortress on the Alps, cycling along the barren alpine pastures of Urserental, and tackling first the tough climb on the Furkapass (2430 m) and then a thrilling descent passing by the Rhone glacier caves.

Day 2: Obergesteln/Oberwald – Brig (50 km; +620/-1300 m)
In this part of Switzerland, the Rhone is still called Rotten. Today you will cross the sunny high valley of the Rhone route, towards Brig. In the late afternoon, you can visit the World Nature Forum in the nearby town of Naters, base camp of the Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Day 3: Brig – Sion (42 km; +170/-320 m)
The main valley of Wallis widens and the sun heats up the rocky slopes of the mountains. Between Leuk and Sierre, you will leave the Rhone to venture among the vineyards until you reach a winery. After a wine tasting, you will continue to the castles of Sion.

Day 4: Sion – Martigny (44 km; +120/-180 m)
Let yourself be fascinated by Sion, the capital of the Canton of Wallis and its historic castles, churches and palaces. The Lower Rhone Valley here is dominated by the alpine panorama of the Dents du Midi. You will then cycle through lush orchards and vineyards, to reach Martigny.

Day 5: Martigny – Vevey/Montreux (55 km; +215/-305 m or 60 km; +250/-335 m)
A cylindrical tower dominates Martigny from above. At the narrowest point of the valley, on a bend in the river, between the Abbey dedicated to Saint Maurice and the Rhone, stands St-Maurice, guardian of ancient treasures. From here you will continue between high mountains and plains, until you reach Lake Geneva, hidden behind the reeds and the suggestive Chillon Castle rising from the lake waters.

Day 6: Montreux/Vevey – Lausanne (20 km; +425/-430 m or 30 km; +475/-480 m)
Lake Geneva looks like a small silver sea, surrounded by snow-capped peaks and terraced vineyards, such as those of Lavaux, a UNESCO World Heritage site. You will cycle along the banks of the Rhone and, on your route, you will encounter Vevey, Montreux and the metropolis of Lausanne, nerve center of the Vaud population.

Day 7: Lausanne – Nyon (45 km; +470/-435 m)
Above the terraced vineyards of La Côte and further down, by the lake, you will meet the market towns of Morges, Rolle and Nyon. We recommend visiting the beautiful castles of Nyon and Prangins.

Day 8: Nyon – Geneva (30 km; +235/-255 m or 60 km; +615/-605 m)
Above the terraced vineyards of La Côte and further down, by the lake, you will meet the market towns of Morges, Rolle and Nyon. The cosmopolitan Geneva will welcome you with its boulevards and its 140-meter water jet. At the end of the itinerary, end of services and individual departure.
