In this article, we want to give you some useful tips to choose Lake Garda as a destination for your next trip!
Lake Garda by bike: what to see
Saying Lake Garda is easy, but what should you absolutely see? We must not forget that the lake has an area of 370 square kilometers and is enclosed between 3 regions: Lombardy, Veneto, and Trentino-Alto Adige. One of the first stops not to be missed in this fascinating body of water is undoubtedly Peschiera del Garda, and the reason is very simple: it is one of the most interesting historical villages in the entire area. It is enclosed by the high Venetian walls, surrounded by water, and its historic center is composed of ancient alleys where typical local venues sprout. Among the bastions, the bridges, and the Fortress, you will feel like you have entered another era.
In addition to Peschiera, Punta San Vigilio is another place not to be missed: it is no coincidence that it has been praised by Goethe and is considered the most romantic point of Lake Garda. The best time to visit it? Definitely at sunset!
If you are a spa lover, you cannot also miss Sirmione, located about 12 km from Peschiera, it is known worldwide for its thermal waters, for its historic center, but also for the Grottoes of Catullus and the Scaligera Fortress.
We must also not forget that Lake Garda is also the perfect destination for fun lovers: a few kilometers from Peschiera there are Gardaland and Caneva Aquapark (the latter open only in summer). And for wine lovers? A must-visit is Bardolino, located along the wine route, it hosts an important festival every fall perfect for all wine tourists!
Finally, if you love trekking this is the place for you: Lake Garda is enclosed by beautiful mountains and to admire a unique panorama you just need to walk the path of the Rocca di Garda, which from the center of Garda takes you up to the Rocca to admire Lazise, Salò, and Sirmione from above.
