Description

Day 1: Alta Pusteria (Villabassa/Dobbiaco)
Individual arrival. Free parking available near the hotel.

Day 2: Alta Pusteria – Oberdrauburg (70 – 75 km)
Starting from Villabassa or Dobbiaco you will pedal today along the Drava cycle path to the splendid San Candido and then Sillian. You will continue downhill on the cycle path reaching Lienz; a few kilometers outside the town it is worth making a stop in Aguntum, an ancient Roman settlement. Finally, you will continue to Oberdrauburg in Carinthia.

Day 3: Oberdrauburg – Spittal a.d. Drau (55 km)
The day continues in the saddle along the Drava giving you the opportunity to admire the wonderful landscapes that stretch along the river bank. An intermediate stop will be Berg, a characteristic Austrian village; you will then continue to Greifenburg and you can decide to make a detour to Lake Millstätter where you can enjoy a pleasant swim before reaching the destination, Spittal a.d. Drau, also known for the Porcia Castle, one of the most beautiful examples of a Renaissance castle in Austria.

Day 4: Spittal a.d. Drau – Villach (40 km)
Today’s stage will take you to Villach, the second largest city in Carinthia famous for its carnival and numerous fairs: do not miss the opportunity to take a walk in its pedestrian center; but don’t forget that you are in Carinthia and close to you are the turquoise waters of the Ossiacher and Faaker lakes. Landskron Castle with its park where Japanese macaques live free is also worth a visit.

Day 5: Villach – Moggio Udinese/Tolmezzo/Venzone (85 – 90 km or 40 – 55 km + train to Ugovizza, ticket not included)
Following the Gail river you will leave Villach today: after a while you will return to Italy through the Canale valley which extends into the corner between the three Italian, Austrian and Slovenian borders, and in the center of which Tarvisio lies, surrounded by valleys and woods, which has always been a crossroads cultural and linguistic and point of union between these three nations, a city with a modern appearance but with an ancient soul. You will then continue by bike in the unspoiled nature of the Friulian hills. Possibility to shorten the stage up to Ugovizza.

Day 6: Moggio Udinese/Tolmezzo/Venzone – Udine (60 – 70 km)
Today you will cycle south to reach the placid Gemona del Friuli, known for the magnificent cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and its historic center. You will then continue immersed in the Friulian vineyards: it will certainly be worth responding to the invitation to stop for a taste. Finally, you will reach Udine, also called „the most beautiful Venetian on the mainland“, a city that knows how to harmoniously combine its ancient history and the capacity for innovation. Enjoy a walk to admire the buildings of the late Gothic and Renaissance period, you will be left speechless in front of their charm.

Day 7: Udine – Grado (55 km)
Accompanied by the sirocco, you will cycle to Grado, a seaside town with a historic center with a Venetian charm. In the old city, in Campo dei Patriarchi, the scene is dominated by the Basilica of Santa Eufemia and the adjacent Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie, the oldest in the city. Grado is also known as the island of the sun because its three kilometers of beach are never in the shade!

Day 8: Grado
End of services after breakfast. Individual departure or possibility to extend your stay.
