Description

Day 1: Rome
Arrival and overnight stay in Rome at the Hotel San Giovanni BB.

Day 2: Full day biking in Rome (40 Km)
Our tour starts at 9:00 am with a meeting with our representative for the briefing, document delivery, possible bicycle delivery, and assistance. The hotel is located near the Aurelian Walls, 20 meters from the bicycle path that will take us along the Baths of Caracalla. We will continue along the Circus Maximus before crossing the Tiber river and descending on the bike path along the bank up to Ponte Milvio. Following the direction of North Rome and after crossing the Auditorium-Villa Glori, a magnificent urban redevelopment project, we will reach the Great Mosque of Rome, the largest and most majestic place of worship of the Muslim community in Italy and the largest in Europe. Then we will keep cycling, moving beyond Villa Ada and into the Parioli district to enter Villa Borghese. Once past the villa, we will enjoy the view of the capital from the Pincio Terrace, then descend to Piazza del Popolo. We will ride up Via del Corso, from where it will be easy to deviate to Piazza di Spagna, see the Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona, then take Via dei Coronari and reach the magnificent Campo de 'Fiori and Trastevere, the thirteenth district of Rome. On our way back we will cross the Ghetto, Piazza Venezia, the Imperial Flowers and finally the Colosseum.

Day 3: Rome - Via Appia Antica - Lanuvio (35 Km)
From the hotel, we will follow the Aurelian Walls and take the Via Appia Antica directly from Porta San Sebastiano, reliving history by following the traditional Sampietrini. Afterward, we will take the road leading to the Catacombs of San Callisto and continue straight ahead, via cobblestones or beaten paths, we will leave the Via Appia Antica at the height of Ciampino airport and immediately arrive at the towns of Santa Maria delle Mole. The route becomes even more interesting along the Via Nettunese to cross the town of Cecchina, which borders the more famous Abano. If we previously shared the road with traffic, we will then take beautiful and comfortable country roads to reach the agriturismo "Il Borgo", in the countryside of the municipality of Ariccia, which has an ancient farm, a restaurant and is engaged in the production of wine and oil.

Day 4: Il Borgo - Velletri - Cisterna di Latina - Sermoneta (56 Km)
We will start from the farm to get closer to the history of the Castelli Romani. We will pedal on pleasant country roads until we reach the Latina Cistern. Immediately afterwards, the Pontine plain will begin with its picturesque landscape full of mountains and cultivated lands. The path is flat, except then steeply at the foot of Sermoneta. We will skirt the famous Oasis of Ninfa Park, considered one of the 10 most beautiful parks in the world. The road will continue towards Sermoneta and before starting the climb we will inevitably make a stop at the Cistercian Abbey of Valvisciolo at the foot of the hill. The climb will be magnificent, with little traffic and with a splendid panoramic view of the Pontine plain that extends up to Mount Circeo and overlooks the vastness of the sea. Sermoneta is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, nestled at the foot of the Caetani Castle that dominates the plain. The day ends with baggage settling at the Hotel Principe Serrone.

Day 5: Sermoneta - Sezze - Terracina (58 Km)
After a hearty breakfast, we will start the fifth day of our tour! Riding a bike, we will go downhill, taking the road that leads us to the Agro Pontino. During this pleasant ride, we can admire, not only the agricultural landscape, but also buffalo farms as this area is a producer of the famous Mozzarella DOP. We will immerse ourselves in the silence of the Pontine plain and cross it to admire the ancient marshes, which after the creation of the Pontine Reclamation, made these lands so fertile. Then we will arrive to Terracina, an ancient city bordering the Papal State at the gates of the Kingdom of the 2 Sicilies. In this wonderful land, we can admire its splendid promenade and the port with its fishing boats. The day ends with baggage settling at the Hotel Torre Del Sole.

Day 6: Terracina - Sperlonga (30 Km)
We will ride our bikes into the Apennines in the direction of Campobasso, again following the Via Appia Antica! We will visit the historic center, a cluster of ancient and overlapping architectural remains, a Roman city where you can still see Etruscan ruins. Then we will descend to the sea, admiring the Pontine Islands in the background on one side and Ischia on the other. The province of Latina is one of the most important for agricultural production. In fact, we will follow an exceptional country road full of greenhouses where tomatoes, strawberries, zucchini, and everything else that this land produces is grown. Finally, we will arrive in Sperlonga, unanimously considered the most beautiful city of the Lazio Coast, a village painted white that reminds of the typical Greek landscapes. The day ends with baggage settling at the Grand Hotel Virgilio.

Day 7: Sperlonga
After breakfast, end of services. The railway station is 10 km from the town, many trains regularly connect it to Rome's Termini Station in 1h20. The hotel will help you book a taxi to Fondi/Sperlonga station if needed.
