Description

Day 1: Porto
Upon your arrival, you will be welcomed at the Porto airport and brought to the hotel in the city center from which you can explore the beautiful Porto. Retrieve the bicycles and head down to the riverbank, in the medieval district of the Ribeira. Porto is a historic gem with over 150 monuments declared world heritage sites. Ride peacefully along the riverbank, past Eiffel's famous bridge, and through the houses of the port wine producers that rise uphill from the southern bank of the Douro River. In the evening, we recommend having dinner at one of the many fine restaurants for which Porto is famous.

Day 2: Porto – Furadouro (42 km; +/-77 m)
Today you will leave the hustle and bustle of the city life to reach the peace and tranquility of the Atlantic coast. You will cycle through the many towns nestled along the coast and inside pine forests. The day ends in Furadouro, a hospitable town well-known for its excellent fish. Enjoy your meal!

Day 3: Furadouro – Aveiro (39 km; +/-40 m)
Today's stage is a pleasant ride through the Protected Natural Reserve of São Jacinto's dunes. However, this stage wouldn't be complete without a visit to Costa Nova, a small town with its picturesque center of striped, colored houses. If you have time, you can treat yourself to a ride on a Moliceiro, the brightly painted wooden boats used to collect seaweed, along the canals for which Aveiro is referred to as the Portuguese Venice. Be sure to visit the salt flats and enjoy the wonderful soothing properties of sea salt while dipping your feet in small tubs.

Day 4: Aveiro – Mira (35 km; +/-30 m)
Today's stage is an excellent mix of beaches, pine forests, and paths along the river. Mira, where you will overnight, is a small fishing village where the main activity is fishing, done using traditional boats once pulled by oxen. You will surely be inspired by the charming striped houses and friendly locals. Observe the golden effect of the sun on the sand, sea, vegetation, and contrasted colors of the landscape. Be sure to visit the fantastic fishing village of Praia de Mira to discover the typical, colorful wooden houses the locals call palheiros, and treat yourself to fantastic culinary specialties based on fresh fish you will find here. You can end the day with a walk along the stunning Mira lagoon while enjoying the beautiful natural landscape.

Day 5: Mira – Figueira da Foz (58 km; +/-261 m)
Today, you will leave the charming city of Mira heading for Figueira da Foz, along the Portuguese silver coast. You will cycle through green fields, long beaches, and a substantial pine forest. The stage takes place on a cycling path that follows the Atlantic Road. Surrounded by well-preserved dunes, the picturesque and peaceful village of Praia da Tocha has a huge golden sandy beach extending to the north. Figueira da Foz is the perfect place to rest.

Day 6: Figueira da Foz – Coimbra (43 km; +/-75 m)
Today's stage will take you through rice paddies and lush countryside. You will ride along the Mondego River, up to Coimbra, where you will be welcomed by a modern riverside park with terrace bars and restaurants, a pedestrian bridge that crosses the river, and large shopping centers. Coimbra's beautiful historic city center cascades down the hill to the eastern bank of the Mondego, a multicolored collage of century-old buildings. During the academic year, especially in the summer evenings, the streets of Coimbra, Europe's second-oldest university after Bologna, resonate with the songs of students and the sound of their mandolins, the characteristic Coimbra Fado.

Day 7: Coimbra – Porto
After breakfast, transfer to Porto airport and end of the tour.
