Description

Day 1: Trieste/Muggia
Individual arrival in Trieste/Muggia and hotel accommodation. If time allows, you can cycle along the seaside and visit the wonderful Miramare Castle. Don't miss a walk in the fascinating Piazza Unità d’Italia in the city center and take a break to sip a good espresso in the city of coffee! From Muggia you can reach the center of Trieste by boat (about 30 minutes).

Day 2: Trieste – Piran/Portoroz (36 km; +310/-330 m)
Today you will cross the border with Slovenia; cycling along the coastal bike path you will meet Koper, another beautiful port city, and subsequently the picturesque Venetian villages of Isola and Piran. It will be very pleasant to walk through the narrow streets and visit their churches. In Piran you can drink a coffee in Tartini Square surrounded by beautiful Venetian architecture, while in Portoroz, a wealthy spa city on the Slovenian Riviera, you can try your luck in one of the casinos.

Day 3: Piran - Umag (35 km; +300/-310 m)
Today you will pedal beyond the vast Secovlje salt flats: we recommend arriving fairly early to admire the landscape with morning light and enjoy the splendid shades of color. From here you go through the Croatian border and arrive in the heart of Istria; cycling on slightly hilly terrain you will reach the village of Umag. Umag was a Roman colony and by entering through the drawbridge within its walls you will find a city rich in history. Highly recommended is the visit to the medieval center and the beautiful city tower.

Day 4: Umag – Porec (41 km; +310/-300 m)
Once again you will pedal through some low hills towards Novigrad (Cittanova), another medieval town. In addition to its rich history, Novigrad is also famous for its cuisine and is known as one of the best gourmet destinations in Istria. The next stop is Porec/Parenzo where you can visit the Euphrasian Basilica, a mix of baroque, Gothic, and Romanesque buildings, a UNESCO heritage site.

Day 5: Porec (45 km; +/-410 m)
For this day, you will be spoilt for choice! You can take a boat or take a trip to the Limski Canal, also known as the Lemme fjord: it is a nature reserve in the National Park whose coast contains several mussel and oyster farms. Simply enjoy a day at sea or visit the surrounding countryside of Parenzo.

Day 6: Porec – Rovinj (43 km: +/-410)
Today's stage will take you straight to the jewel of Istria, Rovinj, one of the last true Mediterranean fishing ports. The tall bell tower of the Church of St. Euphemia, built at the highest point of Rovinj, is its most obvious feature: standing tall and dominating the view, no matter from which direction you arrive. It is also possible to ride to Zlatni Rat (also known as Golden Cape), a peninsula where there is a nature reserve.

Day 7: Rovinj – Pula (40 km; +300/-310 m)
The last stage takes you to Pula, on the southwest tip of the peninsula. From here you can visit the Brioni Islands, 14 islands flung into the Mediterranean forming a paradise-like natural park! One of the two major islands, Veli Brijun, was used by Tito as a summer residence. You can also follow the footsteps of dinosaurs: over 200 prints have been found on the island. Pula is the oldest city in Istria and its commercial and cultural center. Enjoy your last tour day among the antiquities including the imposing Pula Arena, the only remaining Roman amphitheater to have all four side towers and all three architectural orders completely preserved.

Day 8: Pula
After breakfast, end of services and individual departures.
