Description

Day 1: Ferrara
Individual arrival in Ferrara around 6.00 pm. Meeting with our contact person, delivery of bicycles, program and information material. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Ferrara – Voghiera (36 km)
Breakfast at the hotel, visit to the city of Ferrara and depart for Voghiera/Ostellato. Along the way, visit the small Necropolis of Voghenza, the Delizia di Belriguardo, short stop and restart. In the afternoon, arrival and accommodation in a farmhouse/hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Gambulaga – Pontemaodino – Pomposa (40 km)
Breakfast and departure for Pomposa. In the town of San Vito we suggest visiting the parish church of the same name built in 1027, a jewel of the romantic style. Continue to Migliarino, the town of seven towers, pedaling through cultivated fields and along the ancient riverbed of the Po di Volano to reach Codigoro. We recommend that you take a look at the Bishop’s Palace before continuing along the cycle path to the Pomposa Abbey, a fascinating Benedictine complex. It was built before the year one thousand on some bumps between the valleys, the Po and the sea and you can visit the Church, in Romanesque style, adorned with friezes and majolica, as well as frescoes and mosaics. The bell tower of 1063 48 meters high, the Refectory and the Palazzo della Ragione stand out. Few people know that the monk Guido d’Arezzo, during his stay in Pomposa, was the first to code the modern structure of musical notes. Near the Abbey, the tasting of Bosco Eliceo wines, the ancient wines of the sands and other typical products is optional (but recommended). Dinner and overnight at the hotel/farmhouse.

Day 4: Pomposa – Comacchio (32 km)
Breakfast at the hotel and departure following the cycle path on the Po di Volano embankment or through the reclaimed areas of the Giralda Valley, admiring the naturalistic oasis of Cannevié and the Torre della Finanza on the Volano embankment until you reach the Lido di Volano : the northernmost beach of the Lidi di Comacchio, close to the mouth of the Po di Volano and the Sacca di Goro. Continuing, take the cycle path in the Volano Pinewood Nature Reserve, until you reach Lido delle Nazioni. The route offers a stretch of wild coast and a view of the sea. From the Lido delle Nazioni crossing the Northern Lidos, one arrives at Porto Garibaldi, one of the ports with the most important fleet in the North Adriatic for fishing for bluefish. You can taste or buy excellent fresh fish. Thanks to the ferry-boat for pedestrians and bicycles, in the canal port you can reach the Lido degli Estensi and head towards the Comacchio Valleys along a road section and then the cycle path. You cannot miss the stop and the panoramic view from the turret on the Logonovo canal. Along the way, surrounded by the water of Valle Fattibello and the salt pans, you can enjoy the picturesque spectacle of pink flamingos in flight and other swamp birds. You reach the lagoon city of Comacchio, also known as the little Venice, built on a chain of 13 islets. Dinner in a typical restaurant and overnight stay.

Day 5: Comacchio
End of services after breakfast. Return by bus to Ferrara (included).
