Cycling among the Islands of Denmark: Fyn and Ærø

Day 1: Svendborg
Individual arrival in Svendborg and hotel accommodation. The hotel is located in an easily accessible spot to the bike routes. The rental bikes will be delivered to the hotel in the afternoon. Svendborg is a vibrant city with a beautiful historic center. Shops and restaurants offer tasty, locally grown foods. You can explore the traditional wooden shipyard or visit the modern natural history museum.

Day 2: Svendborg and Surroundings (35 or 53Km)
Today you will explore the beautiful surroundings of Svendborg. Crossing the bridge to the island of Thurø, you can take the vintage ferry "Helge" to Tåsinge and admire the charming wooden houses on your way to Valdemar Castle. You could also go to see an oak tree over 500 years old, the Ambrosius oak, and visit various farm shops along the way. Pedaling on quiet roads, you will enjoy breathtaking views of natural landscape. Make a stop at the welcoming Skovballehavn port and breathe in the fresh ocean air. Don't forget to visit the Svendborg Brewery, where you can purchase beer, local wine and delicious chocolates. You can also spend the day at Egeskov Castle, north of Svendborg. Egeskov offers great experiences suitable for all family members, and one of the most beautiful parks in Europe with a maze, a playground, an extensive collection of vintage cars and motorcycles, a hunting museum and trophies, and much more. Overnight stay in Svendborg.

Day 3: Svendborg – Ærø (29km)
Today you will take the ferry from Svendborg to reach Ærø, where you will spend the night. Here you will immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the 19th century, with narrow and cobbled alleys, half-wooden houses and much more. Everywhere you bike, you will find farm shops where you can buy fruit, vegetables and honey. Ærø has its own brewery and is known for its production of ice cream and chocolate. Marstal is Ærø’s largest town and is known for its small boutiques, ice-cream parlors and the Maritime Museum, which guides you through the history of ships and marine life, present on the island since 1824.

Day 4: Ærø – Faaborg (36km)
Today you will bike along the coast to the Voderup Klint and Vitsø Mill. We also recommend you to visit the Ærø Brewery, the former Rise Bryggeri, and Søbygaard manor, with its interesting art exhibitions, and to enjoy a delicious cup of coffee in a small cycle-café south of Søby. Later, you will take a ferry from Søby to Faaborg, where you will spend the night.

Day 5: Faaborg and Surroundings (41km)
Enjoy a day in Svanninge Bakker, considered the Alps of Fyn, one of the most exciting natural areas of the island of Funen, formed during the Ice Age. You can also visit the small village of Diernæs and Kaleko Mill on your way. Or, go through large forests, shelters and Holstenshuus Castle. Continue your bicycle journey to Falsled, home to one of Denmark's best restaurants, and return to Faaborg. Alternatively, you can take a more relaxed trip, pedaling towards the beaches of the Horneland peninsula, west of Faaborg. Overnight stay in Faaborg.

Day 6: Faaborg – Svendborg (44km)
Today you will ride a truly idyllic stage along the coast up to Svendborg. Remember to take a break for a photo and relax in one of the picnic areas. If you wish to extend today's stage, we suggest you bike over the southern hills of Fyn, passing by lakes, fertile fields and cattle pastures, before heading towards Svendborg, along the coast, where you will spend the night.

Day 7: Svendborg
After breakfast, end of services and individual departure. The possibility to extend the stay is available.
