Description

Day 1: Arrival in Milazzo
The gulet will be waiting for you for boarding from 6 p.m. at the Marina di Nettuno: the staff will welcome you with the typical southern warmth and a refreshing Aperitivo. You tour leader will introduce you to the details of the tour and will answer all your questions. Overnight in harbor in Milazzo.

Day 2: Milazzo round tour (15 km/ 9 mi. cycling)
This morning a short bike ride will take us to Capo Milazzo and the Piscine di Venere (Venus’ swimming Pools), where the cliffs form a pleasant natural pool. You will reach them by walking between the green of olive trees and the blue of the Mediterranean while enjoying a wonderful view over the Tyrrhenian coast and the Aeolian Islands, our next destination. Back in Milazzo, we will have the chance to visit the castle and the ancient village. Dinner and overnight on board in harbor in Milazzo.

Day 3: Milazzo – Vulcano (20 km/ 12 mi. cycling)
Today we will approach the Aeolian islands, Unesco in World Heritage site. We start by exploring Vulcano, volcanic island where, according to Greek mythology, were located the forges of Hephaestus, blacksmith and god of fire. The fumarole will show you that the forge is still active nowadays, even if the last eruption dates back to the 19th century. Free time in the afternoon. For the adventurous and active traveler: do not miss the ascent to the crater (400 above sea level), the effort will be rewarded by an amazing view! You can then relax in the volcanic mud, with well-known healing properties. Dinner and overnight on board in Volcano harbor.

Day 4: Vulcano – Stromboli (3,5 hrs hiking)
Our cruise continues towards Panarea, but before reaching the island we will make a stop for a nice dip among the islets of Lisca Bianca, Bottara and Dattilo. The tiny Panarea will be waiting for us to offer its bays as the splendid location for lunch break. Back on board, we will enjoy the stunning view of the Sciara del Fuoco, the lava slope descending from the crater of Stromboli directly into the sea. A hiking tour will take us up to the crater (440 meters above sea level): the volcanic explosions at sunset are worth the effort! The day will end by a panoramic picnic. Overnight on board in Stromboli.

Day 5: Stromboli – Panarea – Salina (2,5 hrs hiking)
Today we will sail to first to Panarea, the smallest of all Aeolian islands. We will land in Porto San Pietro, the island’s beating heart. A nice walk from the harbor will take us to the village center, perched on the terraced slope, with its typical white houses. We will continue our walk and stop for a picnic lunch on the the famous beach of Drautto or Cala Junco. Back on board we will sail then to Salina, where we will spend the night. Among its narrow streets you can find many shops and typical restaurants: tonight you will have the chance to chose the one that inspires you most to taste some local dishes.

Day 6: Salina – Lipari (20 km/ 12 mi. cycling)
Did you know that Salina is considered the greenest among the Aeolian Islands? That’s because more than half of its territory is occupied by a Nature Reserve, that we will discover by cycling across the island from Santa Marina, on the east coast, up to Pollara. And if this small town built on the volcanic trench reminds you of something is just because here were shot some scenes of the film Il Postino, with Massimo Troisi. Dinner and overnight on board in Lipari harbor.

Day 7: Lipari – Milazzo (25 km/ 15 mi. cycling)

For this last cycling day a circular itinerary will take us along the coast on the island of Lipari, where we will discover beaches, cliffs and wide bays. We won’t miss a stop to the beaches of Canneto and Acquacalda for a swim in crystal clear waters and for a picnic lunch at the Quattrocchi (four eyes) Belvedere, so called because two eyes are not enough to admire the wonderful view on the Mediterranean! Back in Lipari town you can buy the latest souvenirs in the local shops between the Corso and via Garibaldi. Return to the port of Milazzo for the last dinner and overnight on board.

Day 8: Milazzo
After breakfast, disembarkation and end of services.
